I Love Clarinet
A solo work interrogating queerness through the lens of instrumental identity politics
“My preoccupations of late have been tubes, plastic reeds and inflatable sacs and as always, sex, bums, farts and penises. I think about the way I’ve been playing clarinet as activating the bum of the clarinet - blowing air up the anus of the tube and making the clarinet fart. It’s part of an ongoing process of queering the clarinet.”
This work has been performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, Art Gallery of NSW, Darmstadt Summer Course (Germany), Mona Foma (Tasmania) and more.
